Once (Movie)

A good friend recommended I watch Once, “a modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story”. Although it’s a musical, you don’t even notice because songs take place while busking on the street or sitting on the bus. Filmed in shaky-cam, the movie gives you a feel that you are standing beside them.

Filmed for only $160,000, it got great reception and ended up winning an Academy Award, receiving a Grammy nomination, and a lot of user reviews agree that it is one of the best Irish films. Hey, even Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 97% on the Tomatometer. I’d highly recommend this film, one of the best films I’ve seen in awhile.
